They’ve upgraded to a 777, so the old one is for sale for only $28M. Considering the price of a new G600, Falcon 8X, or 737-based BBJ, it’s a bargain. Maintenance and operating costs? Well, that’s a different story. And it’s a 747-400, not the -200 that lesser leaders are forced to schlep around in...
Compared to a lot of VIP aircraft I've seen, this one is quite tasteful and restrained.

It only costs about $25,000 per hour to fly that thing why not?

is the D check by hours, cycles, or age? Because if it’s by hours
it’s probably gonna take a long, long time considering it’s not flown everyday.

It’s normally done on every fourth C-Check, and one of those is done at 1,800 hours or two years or 2,000 cycles. Yeah, you won’t be needing to do one for quite some time since the aircraft doesn’t get a whole lot of use. Since this aircraft isn’t in normal airline service, maintenance checks will probably be done every few years regardless of hours since things can dry out and corrode over time if not used.

Deep down I feel sad for our god forgotten B787; which should sell for 100-150 million. Even if it has half of the operating costs you just can’t compete with a B744 for 30 million
Some have fun with it
